Action1 has unveiled its newest product release, featuring enhancements to its platform. One notable addition is a new macOS agent, which allows organizations with varied IT infrastructures to achieve seamless, cross-platform patching automation and comprehensive software vulnerability management.

As the world’s #1 easiest-to-use patch management solution, according to G2, Action1 is committed to transforming and simplifying the patching routine for organizations of all sizes. Now becoming cross-platform, Action1 is revolutionizing macOS patching while consolidating multiple patch management approaches for different platforms.

The newly incorporated macOS support, including the latest macOS Sequoia, helps IT teams streamline vulnerability discovery, prioritization, and remediation for both operating systems and applications across the entire IT fleet. In addition, it offers extended endpoint management capabilities such as software deployment, scripting, and IT asset inventory for macOS devices. Action1 is available at no cost for the first 100 endpoints, without any functional limits for both macOS and Windows — and never expires.

According to the Action1 Software Vulnerability Ratings Report 2024, macOS experienced a 30% increase in exploited vulnerabilities in 2023, making it increasingly exposed to attacks targeting known vulnerabilities.

“With the growing complexity of IT ecosystems, it is a challenge for IT teams to unify vulnerability discovery and patching across all systems. Almost every Action1 customer has a mix of Windows and Mac endpoints. The new macOS support will help our customers protect all endpoints and eliminate security gaps that could expose them to cyber threats targeting vulnerabilities,” said Mike Walters, President and Co-founder of Action1.

In addition, Action1’s latest release includes multiple enhancements to boost the product’s functionality, security, and usability, including:

  • Addressing NVD Vulnerability Backlog. Action1 can now detect software vulnerabilities for applications listed in its Software Repository beyond the National Vulnerability Database (NVD) data, providing crucial visibility and automated remediation amid the NVD’s update delays.
  • Software Installation Customization. This enhancement allows customization of built-in and custom software packages without cloning, available for the entire enterprise, per organization, or per endpoint, to ensure continuous patch compliance while preserving future automatic updates.
  • Real-Time Endpoint Attribute Reporting. Action1’s reporting capabilities are now improved by adding endpoint attributes, including username, comment, OS types, IP address, and more, as selectable columns in custom reports.
  • Expanded API. Action1 implements new capabilities and integration options, with code samples, supporting advanced custom integrations to address complex, enterprise-level needs.
  • Multiple Usability Enhancements. The release introduces several UI improvements, including moving endpoints between groups, reworked endpoint organization controls, and many more – all designed to further simplify the already easiest-to-use patch management solution.

SAP security provider SecurityBridge—now operating in the U.S.— announced its new Patch Management function for its SAP Security Platform. SecurityBridge Patch Management is a best-in-class SAP security feature that provides instant, actionable insight into which SAP security patches are missing—without the hassle of filtering through false positives to identify applicable patches needed. With this latest enhancement, SecurityBridge customers can automate SAP patch management procedures down to a single click.

SAP’s Security Patch Day takes place every second Tuesday of the month to release security updates to customers. However, after these security holes are made public, hackers use scanners to find vulnerable systems and develop exploitation toolkits. Organizations that lack the staff to sift through the new patches, and identify the relevant ones for their systems, often delay the time-consuming task. The SecurityBridge Patch Management feature automates identifying only the applicable SAP security patches, rates them by severity, and enables users with one-click installation. In addition, SAP users will automatically receive notifications on high-severity vulnerabilities so they may quickly secure their mission-critical systems.

“Many companies don’t have the amount of SAP personnel to prioritize patch management,” said Christoph Nagy, CEO, SecurityBridge. “Our new one-click installation for SecurityBridge Patch Management removes the manual task of identifying and installing security patches by automatically highlighting missing security patches with great accuracy for instant integration. In addition, the SecurityBridge Platform provides a holistic all-in-one approach that promises to provide the best SAP security capabilities at a very attractive subscription model.”

Additional features include:

~Seamless integration with Security & Compliance Management.
~Query tools from an SAP Security Dashboard to identify technical components and versions installed.
~360° View: System Patches vs. Patch Systems.
~Automatic location of all SAP systems expecting a specific patch, i.e., for ICMAD.
~Access to Security Advisories that contain additional information describing existing “workarounds,” recommendations for implementation timing, and side effects that need addressing during implementation.

The Patch Management module is a core component of the SecurityBridge SAP Platform and is immediately available and active after installation, and the entire platform installs in a few hours. The basis for all SecurityBridge components is the homogeneous configuration, which enables users to orchestrate complex system landscapes in a simplified and manageable way.

Ivanti announced new integrated solutions: Ivanti Neurons™ for Patch Management, Ivanti Neurons™ Digital Assistant, and enhancements to Ivanti Neurons™ for Healing with automatic ticket classification. With these releases, Ivanti continues to deliver on its mission of enabling and securing the Everywhere Workplace.
Ivanti is the provider of the Ivanti Neurons automation platform that empowers organizations to discover, manage, secure, and service their technology, services and assets from cloud to edge. Neurons is a hyperautomation platform that leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to address the growing demands placed on IT and security teams amid the global shift to remote and hybrid work. It autonomously self-heals and self-secures devices and provides personalized self-service experiences to end users. Ivanti Neurons uses automation bots to provide real-time intelligence across all assets in the Everywhere Workplace, including every endpoint and the IoT edge, while delivering a consumer-grade employee experience. Ivanti plans updates to Ivanti Neurons on a quarterly basis, in addition to continually enhancing solutions across the entire platform, to further help customers quickly and securely embrace the future of work. See below for details on the latest innovations:
  • Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management is a cloud-native solution that enables IT teams to efficiently prioritize and remediate the vulnerabilities that pose the most danger to their organizations. This is critical as a recent study by Ivanti revealed that 71% of IT and security professionals found patching to be overly complex and time-consuming. This stat is alarming as the longer vulnerabilities remain unpatched, the more exposed a business is to the risk of a data breach or ransomware attack. By delivering real-time intelligence on known exploits and threat-context for vulnerabilities, Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management helps businesses evolve their vulnerability remediation strategy to better protect themselves from data breaches and attacks by allowing for remediation to be prioritized based on adversarial risk. And through its single pane of glass experience, the solution provides visibility into devices managed in the cloud alongside those managed via on-premises Ivanti patch management solutions, enabling businesses to transition from on-premises to cloud patch management at their own pace.

  • Ivanti Neurons Digital Assistant and new functionalities in Ivanti Neurons for Healing enable organizations to improve the Digital Employee Experience. Through these AI powered enhancements, Ivanti customers can achieve outcomes such as resolving the majority of issues before they are reported, decreasing phone calls to the help desk, and deflecting overall ticket volume. Ivanti Neurons Digital Assistant is an AI-powered Virtual Support Agent (VSA) that automates the resolution of employee questions, issues, and help desk requests and brings the kind of self-service experience employees have come to expect from their consumer lives. This new scalable solution comes with billions of understood phrases out-of-the-box, while also continually learning and improving with every employee interaction. Ivanti Neurons for Healing is enhanced with ticket classification functionality, which improves the accuracy of initial incident classification and associated follow up activities and workflows. Through these new solutions, IT teams will find it easier to automate employee workflows, such as resetting passwords and ordering approved equipment, while delivering 24×7 coverage for the Everywhere Workplace. Departments beyond IT, such as HR and Facilities, can also benefit from the self-service automation combined with ready-made extensions so it can be leveraged as part of an Enterprise Service Management strategy. These enhancements come at a critical time, as call volumes to service desks have risen during the pandemic, resulting in high operating costs and reduced employee productivity and satisfaction. Furthermore, recent research conducted by Ivanti revealed that two-thirds of decision-makers reported they accelerated their plans or increased their adoption of automated IT service offerings.

“These solutions were purpose-built to help our customers address the everchanging business and threat landscape,” said Nayaki Nayyar, President and Chief Product Officer at Ivanti. “Ivanti Neurons for Patch Management helps our customers identify and patch their most critical vulnerabilities proactively – a business imperative as ransomware attacks increase in frequency and sophistication. With Ivanti Neurons Digital Assistant employees receive the same self-service experience they have come to expect in their consumer lives, resolving most questions and issues instantly, and freeing up the IT service desk to focus on more strategic initiatives. These new releases automate and simplify complicated workflows, resulting in a better employee experience and helping organizations achieve a strong security profile.”

Action1 Corporation, a cloud-based remote monitoring and management (RMM) solution provider, released its 2021 Remote IT Management Challenges Report. Based on the feedback from 491 IT professionals worldwide, the study explores how organizations handle patch management for their remote and office-based endpoints and provide employees with remote IT support.

The report reveals that even though most organizations plan to keep at least some remote work in 2022, they struggle to secure and support their remote or hybrid workforce. 78% of respondents admitted experiencing delays in patching critical vulnerabilities during the past year, and 62% suffered security incidents involving a known vulnerability that had not been mitigated even though a patch was available. Indeed, most organizations lack robust patch management: 14% manage all patches manually and 59% automate OS patching only.

Other findings of the survey include:

  • Patching takes 2.5 longer when endpoints are remote.
  • The top barrier to effective patch management (cited by 38% of respondents) is the inability to manage updates in one place and prioritize them effectively.
  • 77% of organizations experienced security incidents during the past year; the most common causes were malware (41%) and phishing (31%) attacks.
  • 35% of organizations are unable to spot unwanted software on their remote endpoints.
  • Resolving IT support requests takes twice as long when employees are remote.

“Modern organizations use more applications than ever, and all of them can have vulnerabilities that hackers can exploit,” said Mike Walters, President and co-founder of Action1. “With vendors issuing updates at a rapid rate, it is essential to automate patching for both OS and third-party software.”
