Parallels has announced that Parallels RAS (Remote Application Server) is now available in the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. This allows Parallels customers to benefit from the efficient and reliable Azure cloud platform, with simplified deployment and management.

As organizations continue to navigate an evolving landscape, the demand for solutions supporting remote workforces and efficient application delivery has never been higher. Parallels RAS represents one such solution, and now that it can be purchased and deployed through Microsoft Azure Marketplace, additional options emerge for partners to extend this delivery to customers wishing to better deploy and manage their remote desktop and application infrastructure.

“With Parallels RAS now available in the Azure Marketplace, organizations worldwide can experience enhanced accessibility,” said Prashant Ketkar, Chief Product and Technology Officer for Parallels. “Listing Parallels RAS as a managed app alongside the existing BYOL options, simplifies the deployment process, making it easier for organizations to find, adopt, and integrate Parallels RAS directly from the Azure Marketplace. This move optimizes operations and removes barriers to adoption, ensuring a smoother and more efficient implementation.”

Deploying Parallels RAS within Azure Marketplace offers a significant advantage: complete automation. This streamlined process handles the initial setup of a full Parallels RAS infrastructure in the customer’s Azure subscription. It automates the deployment of infrastructure components, such as Connection Brokers, Secure Gateways, and Load Balancers, all customizable to the user’s preferences.

Furthermore, integration with Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) can automatically be configured. This allows organizations to jump start their Azure Virtual Desktop deployment, take advantage of all the benefits Azure Virtual Desktop provides, and get all the enhancements Parallels RAS bring to this platform.

During the automated deployment, a new pay-as-you-go license is configured, meaning there is no need to buy Parallels RAS licenses separately. With an Azure Marketplace deployment of Parallels RAS, organizations automatically pay for usage based on the highest concurrency each month, billed through Azure Marketplace.

Additionally, customers may be eligible to debit their existing Microsoft cloud commitment to purchase offers like this in Azure Marketplace. This alignment with existing cloud consumption commitments provides businesses with an incentive to leverage Parallels RAS on Microsoft Azure, optimizing IT spending while benefiting from its advanced features.

Tailored, private offers by partners

With Parallels RAS now available as a transactable solution within the Azure Marketplace, partners, such as Cloud Solution Providers, can now work together with Parallels to create unique offers for their customers and help promote revenue growth. A Multi-Party Private Offer (MPO) allows partners to create personalized offers, provide added value, add custom payouts, and sell directly to Microsoft customers with simplified selling through the marketplace.

A suggested private offer could be an extended offer with Parallels RAS as the secure application and desktop delivery solution, included with professional services for migration, consultancy and IT training from value-added partners.

Jake Zborowski, General Manager, Microsoft Azure Platform at Microsoft Corp., said, “We welcome Parallels RAS to Azure Marketplace, where global customers can find, try, and buy from among thousands of partner solutions. Thanks to trusted partners like Parallels, Azure Marketplace is part of a cloud marketplace landscape predicted to grow revenue 500% from 2022 to 2025.

The Azure Marketplace is an online market for buying and selling cloud solutions certified to run on Azure. The Azure Marketplace helps connect companies seeking innovative, cloud-based solutions with partners who have developed solutions that are ready to use.

Catchpoint introduced AppAssure, a streamlined solution aimed at boosting the digital resilience of top-tier applications. This new offering gives IT teams a fast, easy-to-deploy, and affordable way to gain full visibility into the entire Internet Stack affecting application performance, significantly enhancing their ability to ensure uptime and optimize user experience.

Every week we read news about critical applications failing users. IT departments are still plagued by too many incidents and war rooms that disrupt their operations, requiring the top experts in each field to stop everything to try to pinpoint the root cause of incidents. According to a Forrester report, in the month before the study, 37% estimated their companies lost between $100,000-$499,000, and 39% lost $500,000-$999,999 due to internet disruptions.

Large enterprises usually have dozens of Tier-1 applications that are critical for the business, especially as everything becomes digital. According to the Catchpoint Internet Resilience Report, 97% of respondents say a reliable, resilient Internet Stack is of utmost importance to their business success.  Every second of slowness or downtime costs the business money, trust, and reputation. Some examples of critical applications ideal for AppAssure include:

  • E-commerce websites, SaaS applications and their mobile counterparts
  • Vendor ordering and management systems, EDI, and other supply-chain applications
  • Electronic Payment, credit card processing, banking and treasury apps
  • Operational applications: logistics, travel applications, fleet management
  • Hospital systems: HER, point of care systems, care management protocols, etc.

“The main reason why application teams are failing is because in today’s cloud-centric world where everything is distributed and service-oriented, these teams don’t have visibility into how the dozens of external dependencies across the internet are impacting their application,” said Mehdi Daoudi, co-founder and CEO of Catchpoint. “These teams are myopically focused on collecting ever more logs, traces, and events, while ignoring the internet stack which includes cloud providers, APIs, EDGE devices, ISPs, Site-to-site connectivity, CDNs, DNS, and dozens more. AppAssure is a game changer for these teams.”

AppAssure changes all this by providing a turnkey solution, quickly deployed to eliminate the guesswork of performance and resilience monitoring. It grants you access to all the power of Catchpoint IPM in an all-in-one cost-effective package that simplifies setup and management, ensuring your critical applications are resilient—without burdening your internal teams.

  • Expert Support: Benefit from initial setup, configuration, and training by an experienced internet resilience team.

AppAssure is fully customizable based on the complexity of the application and the specific monitoring needs of the business.

The goal is to simplify implementation and day-to-day operations, eliminating the need for installations, agent deployments, or distractions to customer’s technical teams. It’s a full-service solution delivering instant insights and business value:

  • Resilience: Uncover opportunities to enhance performance and availability.
  • SLO and SLA Compliance: Track Service Level Objectives and monitor vendor SLAs for increased accountability. Monitor XLOs (Experience-Level Objectives).
  • Rapid Issue Resolution: Reduce Mean Time to Detection (MTTD) and Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR), minimizing disruptions and the need for War Rooms.
  • Team Alignment: Reduce finger-pointing and streamline responses to outages, minimizing business impact. Invest resources in fixing the problem, not in finding the problem.
  • Fully Managed Service: No installations or training required, ensuring a hassle-free experience. A fully-managed Monitoring-as-a-Service model is also available.

Code Intelligence has introduced its Classic AUTOSAR Simulator, allowing automotive companies to test AUTOSAR applications using a software-in-the-loop approach. This method helps identify critical vulnerabilities earlier in the testing phase, eliminating the need for hardware and reducing the time and costs typically involved in hardware-in-the-loop testing.

Code Intelligence’s lightweight Classic AUTOSAR simulator allows automotive companies to perform thorough security testing on complete systems such as electronic stability control (ESC), steering, electric parking brakes, park distance control, exterior lights, infotainment, anti-theft systems, remote keyless entry, and more. As a result, companies can identify security vulnerabilities accessible via external channels, such as Bluetooth or other public-facing interfaces, which could be exploited by attackers.

With the AUTOSAR simulator, automotive software developers can perform whitebox fuzz testing as security testing and standard testing techniques, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, entirely in software.  Testing systems in a software-in-the-loop manner is cheaper, quicker, more scalable, and can be more easily integrated into continuous integration workflows than hardware-in-the-loop testing.

“Code Intelligence’s AUTOSAR Simulator allows us to execute and fuzz code in a software-in-the-loop manner. It automates finding bugs as early as possible and ensures that all delivered components from Tier-2 suppliers don’t contain critical vulnerabilities as buffer overflows,” said Dr. Michael von Wenckstern, Product Cybersecurity Governance, Risk and Compliance Specialist, Continental AG.

“In an era where connected vehicles, efficient and effective security testing is more critical than ever. Traditional hardware-in-the-loop testing methods are often time-consuming and lack scalability. To address these challenges, we developed our classic AUTOSAR simulator, enabling system-level testing for AUTOSAR applications entirely in software. This not only overcomes the limitations of traditional testing but also unlocks powerful automated testing approaches, such as whitebox fuzz testing. The value it brings to our automotive customers is significant: faster development cycles, enhanced security assurance, and the ability to ensure the reliability of complete automotive systems well before they hit the road,” said Khaled Yakdan, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, Code Intelligence.

On October 22, Code Intelligence will present its Classic AUTOSAR simulator at the webinar “How to test AUTOSAR applications for security issues and bugs without hardware.” Learn more about the Classic AUTOSAR simulator by Code Intelligence and its architecture at the website here.

Salt Security announced new enhancements to its API Protection Platform, improving API discovery, posture governance, and threat protection for organizations. These innovations enable proactive API posture management, provide unparalleled visibility into both encrypted and unencrypted API traffic, and help outsmart sophisticated attackers with rapid, AI-driven insights.

According to the Salt Labs State of API Security Report 2024, API security incidents more than doubled within the past 12 months. The research also found that API usage is rapidly accelerating, with two-thirds now managing over 100 APIs every day. Organizations continue to struggle to keep pace with the threats associated with expanding API ecosystems, along with trying to accurately comprehend their complex behavioral attributes.

Earlier this year, Salt became the first API security vendor to launch a posture governance engine, designed to deliver operationalized API governance and threat detection across organizations at scale. These innovative capabilities marked a revolutionary change for API security, enabling organizations to establish, educate and enforce API posture standards throughout the application and API lifecycle. Building on such innovation, Salt has further enhanced its capabilities in the posture governance domain and today introduces several new advanced features that are redefining next-generation application security. This includes the launch of:

  • Panoramic Discovery with eBPF and Salt Surface: This extends governance visibility by improving the discovery of API traffic, vulnerabilities, and sensitive data, even in encrypted and complex environments.
  • Salt Posture Governance Policy Hub: This allows organizations to establish and enforce API posture standards across the application lifecycle. It ensures that next-generation apps and GenAI initiatives comply with the best security practices.
  • Full Lifecycle Posture Governance: Salt Security has updated its platform to help organizations extend API posture governance “left.” The platform now enables organizations to more easily capture security posture noncompliance and establish posture validation gates beyond production into an API’s design and test phases. This is achieved through new ecosystem enrichments, integrations, and enhanced in-platform posture validation functionality. This comprehensive approach ensures that Salt’s Posture Governance Engine empowers risk reduction at all stages of an API’s lifecycle.
  • LLM-Powered Attacker Insights for Rapid Response: Salt’s custom-built Large Language Model (LLM) to translate complex attack patterns into clear, concise, actionable insights. This enables security teams to quickly understand the attacker’s identity, tactics, and intent, thus speeding up incident response and remediation efforts significantly.
  • Novel Detection of Malicious Scanners, Bots, and Human Attackers: Salt Security employs innovative detection methods to differentiate traffic abnormalities originating from automated scanners, bots, and human attackers, accurately identifying whether traffic from these sources is malicious. This capability provides a comprehensive understanding of attack motivations, enabling security teams to prioritize and mitigate the most significant threats.

“Growing API ecosystems are making it increasingly challenging for companies to effectively monitor and track all activity within their API ecosystems, and quickly identify malicious intent,” said Roey Eliyahu, CEO of Salt Security. “At Salt, our mission is to provide organizations with the most comprehensive API security. An offering that not only provides rapid threat detection but also provides organizations with the means to proactively improve their posture to plug security gaps before they can be exploited. Our latest platform innovations build on this, providing customers with additional visibility into their API traffic and the AI-powered insights required to quickly mitigate threats.”
