Parallels has announced that Parallels RAS (Remote Application Server) is now available in the Microsoft Azure Marketplace. This allows Parallels customers to benefit from the efficient and reliable Azure cloud platform, with simplified deployment and management.

As organizations continue to navigate an evolving landscape, the demand for solutions supporting remote workforces and efficient application delivery has never been higher. Parallels RAS represents one such solution, and now that it can be purchased and deployed through Microsoft Azure Marketplace, additional options emerge for partners to extend this delivery to customers wishing to better deploy and manage their remote desktop and application infrastructure.

“With Parallels RAS now available in the Azure Marketplace, organizations worldwide can experience enhanced accessibility,” said Prashant Ketkar, Chief Product and Technology Officer for Parallels. “Listing Parallels RAS as a managed app alongside the existing BYOL options, simplifies the deployment process, making it easier for organizations to find, adopt, and integrate Parallels RAS directly from the Azure Marketplace. This move optimizes operations and removes barriers to adoption, ensuring a smoother and more efficient implementation.”

Deploying Parallels RAS within Azure Marketplace offers a significant advantage: complete automation. This streamlined process handles the initial setup of a full Parallels RAS infrastructure in the customer’s Azure subscription. It automates the deployment of infrastructure components, such as Connection Brokers, Secure Gateways, and Load Balancers, all customizable to the user’s preferences.

Furthermore, integration with Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) can automatically be configured. This allows organizations to jump start their Azure Virtual Desktop deployment, take advantage of all the benefits Azure Virtual Desktop provides, and get all the enhancements Parallels RAS bring to this platform.

During the automated deployment, a new pay-as-you-go license is configured, meaning there is no need to buy Parallels RAS licenses separately. With an Azure Marketplace deployment of Parallels RAS, organizations automatically pay for usage based on the highest concurrency each month, billed through Azure Marketplace.

Additionally, customers may be eligible to debit their existing Microsoft cloud commitment to purchase offers like this in Azure Marketplace. This alignment with existing cloud consumption commitments provides businesses with an incentive to leverage Parallels RAS on Microsoft Azure, optimizing IT spending while benefiting from its advanced features.

Tailored, private offers by partners

With Parallels RAS now available as a transactable solution within the Azure Marketplace, partners, such as Cloud Solution Providers, can now work together with Parallels to create unique offers for their customers and help promote revenue growth. A Multi-Party Private Offer (MPO) allows partners to create personalized offers, provide added value, add custom payouts, and sell directly to Microsoft customers with simplified selling through the marketplace.

A suggested private offer could be an extended offer with Parallels RAS as the secure application and desktop delivery solution, included with professional services for migration, consultancy and IT training from value-added partners.

Jake Zborowski, General Manager, Microsoft Azure Platform at Microsoft Corp., said, “We welcome Parallels RAS to Azure Marketplace, where global customers can find, try, and buy from among thousands of partner solutions. Thanks to trusted partners like Parallels, Azure Marketplace is part of a cloud marketplace landscape predicted to grow revenue 500% from 2022 to 2025.

The Azure Marketplace is an online market for buying and selling cloud solutions certified to run on Azure. The Azure Marketplace helps connect companies seeking innovative, cloud-based solutions with partners who have developed solutions that are ready to use.

Prodoscore has published its 2024 State of the Staffing Industry Report, showcasing key productivity trends observed from January 1 to August 30, 2024, across 22 U.S. staffing organizations utilizing its AI-powered data intelligence platform.

The companies included in the 2024 State of the Staffing Industry report range in size from 20 to 1,500 employees across 32 different roles in the staffing ecosystem. Productivity was measured based on usage of various cloud tools (i.e., ATS, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Slack), which showed that employee productivity was on the decline in January through July but increased beginning in August.

Key findings from the data show:
  • Highly productive employees display distinct work habits compared to their lower productivity peers. Employees in the “above average” productivity group spent approximately two hours and 11 minutes per day in meetings, while employees in the “below average” group spent approximately one hour per day in meetings. Additionally, employees in the above-average productivity group are active in cloud tools for over six hours daily, while those in the below average-group show less than three hours of activity.
  • Manager to direct-report ratio is instrumental in identifying employee attrition. At high churn organizations, managers had 12 direct reports while at low churn organizations managers had five direct reports.
  • Employees using Large Language Models (LLMs) are more productive and work longer hours. There is a 15-21% increase in productivity among employees who use LLMs; these employees also work 90 minutes more per day than those who don’t use LLMs.
  • There is no difference in productivity whether employees are in-office vs. remote. Productivity remains consistent no matter where staffing employees are working from, countering concerns about their ability to work effectively outside of the office.

“Prodoscore has been pivotal in enhancing productivity and transparency across our workforce,” said Kevin Sailor, CEO and Managing Partner at Financial Recruiters International, a Prodoscore customer. “With real-time insights, we can make data-driven decisions that address potential issues before they impact our teams. We’ve learned that balanced manager-to-employee ratios are essential for reducing attrition, enabling our managers to better support their teams. Prodoscore has empowered us to better serve our employees more effectively by making informed decisions based on tangible insights rather than gut instinct.”

“Our 2024 State of the Staffing Industry Report underscores the transformative role data is playing not only in the staffing sector but across all professional services,” said Sam Naficy, CEO at Prodoscore. “As we navigate a rapidly evolving job market, insights into remote and hybrid productivity are more valuable than ever. By focusing on the metrics that matter, companies can identify the ways in which their employees work at their best and develop transparent performance expectations that encourage high levels of productivity for all employees. Prodoscore is creating a new category and revolutionizing the way companies of all sizes approach employee engagement and productivity, driving actionable changes that enhance business value.”

The convergence of IT and operational technology (OT), along with OT’s digital transformation, has opened up new possibilities for innovation and efficiency in critical Industrial Automation and Control Systems. However, these advancements also expand the attack surface, increasing the need for stronger security in OT environments. In response, Palo Alto Networks has introduced new features in its OT Security solution, including the industry’s only fully integrated, risk-based guided virtual patching system powered by Precision AI™, the Prisma® Access Browser with Privileged Remote Access, and a suite of rugged, ML-powered Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs) designed to operate in harsh industrial environments where traditional firewalls often fail.

According to the 2024 State of OT Security report from Palo Alto Networks and ABI Research, 70% of industrial organizations experienced a cyberattack on their OT environment in the last year. Almost 25% of these organizations suffered attacks that led to operational shutdowns and disrupted business continuity.

Anand Oswal, SVP and GM, Network Security, Palo Alto Networks:
“The rise in the frequency and sophistication of OT attacks, often driven by AI, highlights the urgent need for robust, OT-specific security measures. Organizations must implement comprehensive solutions that ensure real-time visibility, end-to-end protection and simplified security management. Palo Alto Networks OT Security solution, powered by Precision AI, secures both OT and converged IT/OT in a consistent way to combat these challenges and protect critical infrastructure.”

Sid Snitkin, Vice President, Cybersecurity Services, ARC Industrial Cybersecurity:
“Operational technology environments are becoming increasingly complex and interconnected, making them more susceptible to cyber threats. The ability to deploy AI-powered tools like guided virtual patching is a game-changer for industrial cybersecurity. It enables organizations to address vulnerabilities in real-time without the costly and often disruptive downtime that traditional patching methods would require. This approach not only reduces risks but also enhances the overall resilience of OT infrastructures.”

Palo Alto Networks OT Security solution safeguards all OT environments, including networks, assets, remote operations and 5G networks. It also provides specific visibility and capabilities to help customers simplify operations and increase efficiency.

New features include the ability to:

  • Enhance remote operations with secure and easy-to-deploy access for OT: Privileged Remote Access delivered through the new Prisma Access Browser will empower OT security teams managing remote operations. This solution simplifies deployment and strengthens security by providing secure, immediate access to critical OT systems for all authorized users, including contractors and partners. It supports just-in-time access and session recording for essential workflows, ensuring that mission-critical environments are safeguarded while making remote access easier to manage.
  • Quickly address critical OT vulnerabilities without interrupting operations: Keeping legacy OT assets secure can be challenging, especially when patches risk disrupting operations. Guided Virtual Patching with Industrial OT Security allows security teams to mitigate critical vulnerabilities swiftly without causing downtime. Powered by Precision AI, it automates asset inventory, assesses risks and prioritizes vulnerabilities to enable protection of hard-to-patch systems between regular patch cycles or maintenance windows. This prevents interruptions as well as extends the lifespan of these assets, ensuring that critical operations remain uninterrupted and secure.
  • Protect remote industrial assets in harsh environments: Industrial operations sometimes need to happen in tough conditions, facing rain, wind and extreme temperatures. The ruggedized PA-400R Series firewalls offer reliable security tailored for harsh, space-constrained environments like utility substations and factory floors. Easy to install—even on DIN rails—they include models with 5G connectivity to keep remote sites connected. With features like fail-to-wire capabilities, these firewalls ensure continuous security and connectivity, helping reduce costs while protecting critical infrastructure.

During the Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Cybersecurity Conference this week, attendees can learn more about the power of Palo Alto Networks new capabilities, as well as experience an interactive tour of our OT CyberWall.

Cirata has introduced a new version of Cirata Subversion MultiSite Plus, a DevOps solution designed to allow distributed teams to collaborate securely and seamlessly, without downtime or disruptions. Tailored for global collaboration, security, and performance within Subversion environments, this release reinforces Cirata’s dedication to the Subversion community by offering a strong, enterprise-grade alternative to outdated and unsupported platforms like CollabNet Subversion.

As organizations face increasing pressure to modernize their version control systems, Cirata Subversion MultiSite Plus (MSP) continues to offer a seamless solution for distributed development teams. With this new release, Cirata Subversion MSP empowers globally distributed teams to seamlessly and securely collaborate as one, ensuring that development workflows remain smooth and efficient across all locations.

“With Subversion MultiSite Plus, your developers can focus on what matters most—developing content—without being held back by geography or downtime,” said Justin Holtzinger, Chief Revenue Officer, DevOps Solutions, Cirata. “Our Active-Active replication technology ensures that Subversion repositories are always consistent and accessible, enhancing operational continuity and collaboration for distributed teams.”

Subversion MultiSite Plus is a critical component of any Subversion deployment, enabling distributed teams to work as one without experiencing delays from remote data access. Using Cirata’s patented Active-Active replication technology, Subversion repositories are continuously and automatically updated, eliminating the associated risk of a single point of failure. Key capabilities and benefits of Subversion MultiSite Plus include:

  • Distributed Collaboration – Cirata Subversion MSP allows global teams to work as one, ensuring no downtime, no disruption, and consistent security policy enforcement across all locations. Developers experience fast local access to Subversion repositories without waiting for remote data, improving overall efficiency.
  • Global Repository Consistency – Cirata Subversion MSP guarantees that repository replicas are always up to date and consistent, thanks to automatic synchronization and the ability to catch up after offline events.
  • Selective Replication – Administrators can control replication on a per-site basis, ensuring that specific data is only shared where it’s needed, enhancing both security and performance.
  • Enhance Operational Continuity – With Cirata Subversion MSP’s high availability and disaster recovery features, organizations benefit from offsite replication that ensures data is always secure and accessible, even in the event of server failures or outages.
  • Boost Developer Efficiency – Cirata Subversion MSP supports fast local clones, ensures the fastest and most reliable commits, and is fully compatible with all Subversion clients, delivering a smooth and uninterrupted development experience.
  • Seamless Management – The Cirata management console allows administrators to globally manage their Subversion MSP deployment, simplifying the complexities of a multi-site environment.

This release is particularly valuable for enterprises seeking to migrate off legacy CollabNet Subversion environments, which are now end-of-life and no longer supported. CollabNet’s unsupported software and its associated components, such as the Apache versions it runs on, leave customers vulnerable to security risks and CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures). Cirata Subversion MultiSite Plus provides a secure, modern alternative, allowing organizations to transition smoothly and mitigate the risks associated with unsupported tools.

“Our commitment to Subversion is unwavering,” Holtzinger added. “We understand that many organizations still see the value in Subversion, and we are dedicated to ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed, no matter the size or complexity of their development environment.”

  • Custom Workflow Automation: Empowering your teams to build and deploy tailored security workflows quickly, while enhancing response times and operational agility without adding complexity.

The combination of Syxsense and existing capabilities will provide customers with resilient endpoint security, visibility, control, connectivity, resilience, and self-healing for applications and security controls.

“We are thrilled to bring automated endpoint and vulnerability management to Absolute Security,” said Ashley Leonard, CEO of Syxsense, “We’ve built a platform that enterprises rely on to minimize risk and streamline critical security and management activities across globally distributed endpoints. By leveraging Absolute’s unique position in the firmware, we now can deliver the industry’s only truly resilient solution to a wider market.”

The acquisition positions Absolute to expand its customer base, global presence, and competitive position in additional markets. It will further establish the company as the leader in enterprise cyber resilience by enabling it to expand into the adjacent markets of Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) and Vulnerability Management. Two exciting spaces estimated to be worth a combined $35 billion by 2027. This is in addition to the estimated value of the endpoint security market of $40 – $50 billion.

Existing Syxsense customers and partners will continue to receive full support for existing deployments. Absolute customers will be able to add Syxsense endpoint and vulnerability management capabilities. Nerdio announced that its flagship product, Nerdio Manager for Enterprise, now supports multi Entra ID tenants, enabling organizations to manage Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) deployments across multiple Entra ID tenants from a single console. This feature enhances the management of Azure environments by centralizing control, improving visibility, and simplifying administrative tasks for enterprises with multiple Entra ID tenants.

“With Multi-Tenant Instances in Nerdio Manager for Enterprise, our organization is capable of handling complex AVD deployments far more efficiently,” said Garion Brown, Global Vice President of Platform Engineering, Teleperformance. We recommended this feature to Nerdio, and it has provided us with a unified view of all our instances of Azure, significantly reducing the need to switch between different accounts in the Azure portal.”

Nerdio continues its market-leading growth in the first half of 2024, underscoring the increasing demand for its innovative cloud management solutions among enterprises, particularly as organizations look to modernize their cloud end-user computing solutions. New customers such as the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, Leggett & Platt Inc., and Osceola County School District join leading organizations including Make-a-Wish UK, The University of North Florida, Chevron, The Government of Alberta, and Equitable Bank, reaping the benefits of Nerdio Manager for Enterprise.

“We are seeing tremendous growth in the DaaS market,” said Vadim Vladimirskiy, CEO, Nerdio. “Globally, organizations are increasingly acknowledging the benefits of AVD, offering secure and efficient remote work access while reducing overall expenses. This growth reflects a broader shift towards cloud-based solutions as businesses prioritize flexibility, security, and cost-efficiency in their operations.”
