Due to a surge in cloud expansion organizations in various industries need secure access to essential cloud resources without compromising productivity. Traditional approaches like PAM and IGA often fail to provide this level of security within the cloud. Apono’s just-in-time, just-enough approach enables customers to seamlessly achieve these security objectives while ensuring compliance with reporting requirements and avoiding disruptions or delays for technical teams that require access to cloud resources.

Apono has announced the appointment of Dan Parelskin as Senior Vice President of Sales and the hiring of Stephen Lowing as Vice President of Marketing. These key additions follow the company’s successful Series A funding round in September, marking important progress as Apono aims to leverage the growing demand for cloud privileged access solutions in various markets.

“I’ve spent nearly five years focusing on Zero Trust and assisting companies in achieving Zero Standing Privilege within their cloud environments. At Apono, we’re providing a solution that can significantly enhance this process and is poised to revolutionize how organizations secure and scale their cloud infrastructure,” said Dan Parelskin, Senior Vice President of Sales. “Apono offers customers a rare win-win for user experience and security, while also modernizing the 25-year-old privileged access management industry with a cloud native, cloud-first approach that reduces risk of excess privilege within a modern, user-driven environment.”

Dan Parelskin has been working in the cybersecurity industry for nearly 16 years. Before joining Apono, he served as Vice President of Worldwide Solutions Architecture at Axis, a Security Services Edge company. Following Axis’s acquisition by HPE, he transitioned to the role of Worldwide Director of SSE Solutions Architecture. Additionally, Parelskin has held leadership positions in sales at other prominent cybersecurity companies, including HackerOne, Tanium, and McAfee. After serving as an advisor to Apono for the past year, Parelskin has been appointed Senior Vice President of Sales. In this role, he leads the sales team, with the goal of driving growth and expanding the company’s reach.

“Every enterprise today faces the growing challenge of efficiently securing access across cloud resources and cloud providers. Apono has demonstrated its ability to provide a simple, innovative, and secure solution that addresses this critical need,” said Stephen Lowing, Vice President of Marketing. “I’m thrilled to join a company that understands the breadth and depth of this challenge and look forward to reaching and delivering for more customers.”

Stephen Lowing brings over 12 years of experience leading marketing for brands across the cybersecurity landscape, including identity, cloud security, endpoint protection, application, and network security. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Marketing at Omada, a leading identity and access management (IAM) solution provider. Prior to that, he held the position of Head of Product and Content Marketing at Imperva, a Thales company. In these roles, Lowing developed, led, and executed go-to-market strategies for the companies’ application security segments. Additionally, Lowing has held senior marketing roles at CyberArk, Threat Stack, and Promisec. In his new role at Apono, Lowing will lead all marketing activities during a period of growth and contribute to increasing the company’s visibility as a critical player in the privileged access cloud market.

“This is a very exciting time for Apono. The market opportunity is clear, and we’re thrilled to add the right talent to capitalize on it,” said Rom Carmel, CEO and Co-founder of Apono. “Steve and Dan will be instrumental in this phase of our growth. We’re excited to benefit from their expertise and look forward to building upon this momentum.”

Malwarebytes has launched its newest consumer product, Personal Data Remover, aimed at safeguarding user privacy by helping individuals remove their personal information from data broker databases and people search websites. This solution includes ongoing monitoring to maintain the privacy of users’ data, offering strong protection against potential misuse that could result in stalking, spam, and identity theft.

In today’s digital world, data brokers have nearly 1,500 data points for every consumer, ranging from addresses and phone numbers to birthdays, social media profiles, and voter registration. The process of identifying and opting out of these data sellers can be time-consuming and complex, often taking hundreds of hours. With 79% of people expressing deep concern about online privacy and security risks, the launch of Malwarebytes Personal Data Remover addresses a critical need for enhanced privacy protection.

“Online privacy is a fundamental human right,” said Marcin Kleczynski, Founder and CEO, Malwarebytes. “At Malwarebytes, we believe that what you do online is your business, and you should have control over your personal data. Our new Personal Data Remover empowers users to take back their privacy by making it easier than ever to remove their information from data brokers and stay protected.”

Key Features of Personal Data Remover

Malwarebytes Personal Data Remover scans a network of data broker databases and people search sites, assisting users in removing their personal details, and offering ongoing monitoring to maintain their online privacy, automating up to 318 hours(1) of work a consumer would have to undertake themselves.

Key features include:

  • Instant personalized reporting: Personal Data Remover quickly reveals hidden threats specific to each user, such as personal information that could lead to stalking, unwanted spam, or identity theft.
  • Actionable Guidance: Whether users opt for the free or paid version, they can take immediate action to remove their personal information from public view, reducing their exposure to risk. For subscribers, Malwarebytes will help remove all identified data on their behalf. Free users receive an exposure report and self-serve instructions on how to opt out of each of the data brokers and data sellers themselves.
  • Automatic Removal: Data Brokers are relentless, with the average number of users appearing 2-3 times per year on the same sites.(2) With a subscription, Personal Data Remover provides automatic removals of personal data from broker databases.
  • Integrated Protection: This new product offers a holistic approach to security and privacy through the Malwarebytes full suite of consumer solutions to prevent and respond to online threats and dangers.

The consumer product is available in the U.S. as both a free scan and paid standalone service, underscoring Malwarebytes’ vision of reimaging security to protect devices and identity, no matter where users are, how they work and play, or the size of their wallet. A Personal Data Remover subscription is included along with device security, VPN, and identity theft protection for all existing and new Ultimate customers at no additional cost.

The company itself continues to grow, the Bugcrowd Platform capabilities are advancing, and we are finding market success through a slew of new customers. During this period of growth, I am delighted to add another experienced voice to the company’s leadership and particularly someone who has led a company in a similar stage as Bugcrowd is now. I look forward to working with Patrick as Bugcrowd continues to make strides in the second half of 2024.”
The Bugcrowd Platform connects organizations with trusted security researchers and hackers to help proactively defend themselves against sophisticated threats. For over a decade, Bugcrowd’s unique “skills-as-a-service” approach has uncovered more high-impact vulnerabilities than traditional methods, along with clearer ROI, for more than 1,200 customers – including OpenAI, Google, T-Mobile, Carvana, the US DoD’s CDAO, ExpressVPN, Rapyd, New Relic, and OpenSea. With unmatched flexibility and access to a decade of vulnerability intelligence, the Bugcrowd Platform has evolved to address a changing attack surface influenced by adoption of mobile infrastructure, hybrid work, APIs, crypto, cloud workloads, and AI. Bugcrowd’s crowdsourced solutions include penetration-testing-as-a-service, managed bug bounties, vulnerability disclosure programs (VDPs), and AI Safety and Security products.

Cerabyte has announced a strategic investment from Pure Storage to support sustainable immutable data storage solutions. Additionally, John (Coz) Colgrove, the Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Pure Storage, has joined Cerabyte’s Board of Directors.

Cerabyte’s vision is to store all data virtually forever and preserve today’s digital records for future use through the use of its ceramic data storage technology. With Pure Storage delivering the industry’s best platform to store, manage, and protect the world’s data, this strategic investment in Cerabyte will enable the company to extend this mission further.

“Pure’s investment in Cerabyte and joint partnership will allow us to offer our customers sustainable and immutable data storage solutions that are revolutionizing the industry,” said John (Coz) Colgrove, Founder and Chief Visionary Officer, Pure Storage. “By disrupting the archival storage market, we are paving the way for longer lasting and easier to manage long-term storage.”

Cerabyte enables a new tier of accessible, permanent, and sustainable data storage that is projected to extend from petabyte to exabyte-scale data center racks. The persistent media technology can hold data for extremely long periods of time while consuming no power.

“The complex global needs of zettabyte-scale archival storage have been poorly served with expensive solutions that consume an inordinate share of the world’s available energy,” said John Monroe, Chief Analyst at Furthur Market Research. “The storage industry is ripe for transformative disruption. In concert and conjunction with tape, new technologies such as Cerabyte’s will be required to provide viable and cost-effective solutions to enterprise customers’ crucial challenges with the security, immutability and sustainability (SIS) of their vital data.”

Cerabyte’s ceramic-based data storage does not suffer from bit rot or silent corruption, which threatens data integrity over time. Instead, it provides an immutable record of the original data required in an increasing number of use cases, especially in the era of AI.

“As the industry is heading towards the Yottabyte Era, sustainable data storage — which eliminates the need for data migration and thereby scales down the energy footprint and TCO — will be critical to harness the data tsunami ahead,” said Christian Pflaum, CEO, Cerabyte. “We are thrilled to partner with Pure Storage to commercialize ceramic data storage and welcome John to our Board of Directors.”
